According to unidentified sources but reported by several reputable US news media outlets, including Bloomberg, Rush Street Interactive (RSI), the parent company of BetRivers Casino and Sportsbook, is contemplating selling its online gambling brand. RSI officials have already approached several other iGaming brands, such as DraftKings, exploring the opportunity for a sale.
However, at the time of writing, neither company has officially commented on the rumors. DraftKings representatives have said they constantly communicate with other companies, which is an integral policy of their business strategy, but they will not comment on any information supplied by the media until they have something concrete to announce.
BetRivers is one of the biggest iGaming brands in the US, with a growing footprint in Latin America. Last week, Rush Street Interactive had a market capitalization of $1.32 billion, meaning the list of potential suitors will be short. DraftKings is one of the brands with deep pockets and a practice of integrating competing iGaming operators under its umbrella, such as the case with Golden Nugget Online Casino in 2022.
According to revenue data, BetRivers ranks as the fourth operator among Michigan online casinos. It’s a position BetRivers has confidently maintained for three years, with lifetime online casino revenue of $316 million.
Although it’s far from endangering the market positions of brands such as BetMGM, FanDuel, and DraftKings in the Great Lakes State, BetRivers consistently outperformed the remaining 11 licensed operators, especially national brands Caesars and Golden Nugget. In the second month of 2024, BetRivers Casino generated $12.1 million, which additionally fueled its growth trend.
Projections for 2024 indicate that this online casino will generate over $120 million in revenue. The key reason for BetRiver’s popularity in Michigan is the constantly expanding lobby, with new slots being added every week. The operator provides competitive Michigan online casino bonus and reliable app packages.
The potential sale of Rush Street Interactive, if it does occur, will not significantly influence BetRivers’ online gambling services in Michigan, especially since several other iGaming companies operate several brands simultaneously in the Wolverine State. Aside from the aforementioned Golden Nugget Online Casino acquisition by DraftKings, both platforms operate side by side and share some of their casino games. Caesars Entertainment is another brand with multiple casino apps in Michigan.
After opening the Caesars Palace Online Casino and Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, this brand is gearing up to launch a third casino app in the Great Lakes State. Caesars acquired WynnBET’s Michigan iGaming license in February and will replace WynnBET with another casino brand by the end of the year.
Rush Street Interactive owns two iGaming brands, PlaySugarHouse and BetRivers, and offers casino games and sports betting in 15 US states. It also possesses iGaming licenses in Canada, Mexico, and Colombia.
