Caty McNally v Ashlyn Krueger Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, two years ago on the ITF tour, McNally winning in straight sets.
Merida Semi-Finalist McNally
McNally is better known as a doubles player. She has finished runners-up in the last two US Opens, first partnered by Coco Gauff and then by Taylor Townsend.
And, she has already won a tournament this year, this time teaming up with Diane Parry in Mexico.
In terms of singles, her biggest success came in November last year, when she beat the German Anna Lena Friedsam to win a Challenger title in Michigan.
This is McNally’s fourth event of the year. She was beaten in the first round in Auckland, but went one stage further at the Australian Open.
Most recently at the Merida Open, she reached her first semi-finalist of the year, finally losing in three sets to the Swede Rebecca Peterson.

Qualifier Krueger Successful on Junior Tour
As a junior, Krueger won the doubles at the US Open in 2021, and, the following year, she returned to New York in the singles, having come through qualifying to reach the main draw, her first senior appearance in a Grand Slam.
She spends most of her time on the USTA Pro Circuit, a series of tournaments for female tennis players organised on outdoor hard and clay courts, and arrived in Austin as a recent winner, having picked up the trophy in Orlando earlier this month.
She then reached another final in Mexico, and carried that form into the qualifying competition here, first beating Sara Bejlek of the Czech Republic for the loss of just three games.
Erika Andreeva her second round opponent made her work a lot harder, breezing through the first set of their match and dropping just one game.
Krueger, though, was able to regroup, won the second set, and went on to close out the match without any further difficulties.
McNally v Krueger Prediction and Tip
Whilst Krueger has turned in some fine performances on the junior tours, McNally has been in good form herself in both singles and doubles, and her greater experience on the main tour should tilt the odds firmly in her favour.
