It’s election season, warming up with declarations of support coming from all corners, including the NFL. Taylor Swift joined forces with over 50 coaches and players to endorse Kamala Harris, while Donald Trump went on to attract attention with endorsements, this time from prime figureheads, including legendary quarterback Brett Favre.

Brett Favre has been very vocal in coming to Trump’s defense over time, and a recent discussion of the former president on the Starlink communications system has secured his blessing. He backed the discussion with billionaire Elon Musk. As if to seal his support, if only for those reasons, Trump announced solutions for areas hit by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. Favre sealed his support with a video post from the announcement on his X account.
But, however, Favre’s uncompromising support for Trump did not go well with the many fans of the NFL. Most of them are concerned with the health status of the quarterback after surviving a career injury spanning over two decades. The quarterback openly declared he survived more than one thousand concussions, and this provoked various eyebrows and concern from the fans.
Recently, Favre revealed his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis during a congressional hearing, which evoked support from fellow players such as Aaron Rodgers and Mike McDaniel. However, not everyone is on his side, with some opposing his political affiliations.
Recently, Favre tweeted, “If you’re born in the USA or an American citizen and you put other countries above us, then that’s unpatriotic.” Some supported the view of Favre, while others harshly criticized him. YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen snapped back saying that it was “wild to be lectured about patriotism by the guy who just stole $1 million in welfare funds from the poorest people in his state,” referencing ongoing investigations into Favre’s alleged misconduct.
As election time approaches, Favre’s desire to support Trump seems to have driven a target right through his back. For instance, former Jets game day host Jenn Sterger brought up controversies of the past by tweeting, “I don’t wish bad things on anyone, but I know Karma never forgets an address.” The more turbulent the political air gets, Favre must certainly be feeling some of the mainstream publicity he is facing.
