Conference USA Announces 2024 Football Kickoff – New Mexico State University Athletics

DALLAS – Monday morning, the conference office released information pertaining to the 2024 Conference USA Football Kickoff and Media Day. This year, the event will take place on Tuesday, July 23, at the home of the PGA of America in Frisco, Texas.

There, CUSA Commissioner Judy MacLeod, as well as head coaches and players from each of the 10 CUSA programs will be on hand to discuss and preview the upcoming 2024 football season. This marks the first formal event under the league’s 2024 10-team configuration.

NM State will be represented by Head Coach Tony Sanchez, offensive lineman Shiyazh Pete and defensive lineman Buddha Peleti. The trio of Aggies will take part in a traditional press conference as well as a live show which will be host by ESPN’s John Schriffen on ESPN+.

Sanchez will be one of three head coaches in their first year with their respective programs as he is joined by Middle Tennessee’s Derek Mason and UTEP’s Scotty Walden. Additionally, this will be the first year that Kennesaw State will participate in the event as they enter their first year of membership.

Redshirt junior left tackle Shiyazh Pete is one of three First Team All-CUSA selections that will take part in Media Day as Liberty’s Kaidon Salter and UTEP’s Maurice Westmoreland will also represent their institutions in Frisco.
